Usability testing
Beauty without purpose or function definitely has its place in the word, but your website is not that place!
We conduct usability testing to ensure that your beauty is more than screen deep, and real life users can make sense of it. Usability testing works hand in hand with a number of our services, and is often conducted iteratively through larger products so that we are constantly testing and justifying our designs
Recruitment
Finding the right participants is imperative to insightful and productive user testing. There are a number of parameters to consider when recruiting participants that you may not consider.
We create explicit, detailed screeners based on previous audience research to ensure that we have the best spread of users. Our recruitment process and fees also includes incentives for participants.
Card sorting
An interactive and creative way of building an initial outline for the structure of your site, card sorting is an exercise we carry out early on. After we have audited your content and considered all the categories, existing and possibly new, we ask users to ’sort’ the categories in ways that make sense to them.
This can be in either general groups or hierarchal — both allowing us to gain an understanding of users natural assumptions and expectations for how your content would be organised.
Tree testing
A natural successor to card sorting, and one that comes further into the process, tree testing helps us to cement a website’s full architecture—often based on the earlier card sorting.
Users are given hypothetical scenarios and click through a rudimentary navigation system to see how they would complete an end-to-end journey. Tree testing only tests the structure of the site, without any design involved. It may seem simple but it is the most effect way of testing how truly intuitively your site is organised, without additional influences.
