USER RESEARCH
Hazel is a property directory for older people, many of whom have retired, that aims to take the stress out of the logistics of moving.
Whether they are looking to downsize, leave the city, or be nearer grandchildren, Hazel’s carefully considered filter allows users to find the most suitable home for them. Their specialist advisors also help with negotiations, packing, and moving to create a seamless experience.
After naming the brand and designing the identity, we suggested a number of UI elements that would help users to navigate the website easier. As the site is aimed towards an older audience, it was important to create components that were clear and concise to avoid confusion.
Signposting with iconography
Hazel's expansive filtration system sets it apart in helping older people find the homes best suited to them through detailed interests, facilities and amenities that were collected through thorough audience research.
We created a number of icons for each filter item and suggested optimal sizing and weight that would look sleek whilst still being easily identifiable.
Accessible colour palettes
Hazel also provides reports on the properties in their directory to ensure transparency and in-depth information to help users make informed decisions.
For this, we suggested a traffic light system, within the brand palette, for seamless comprehension.
Showcasing information through design
To ensure a good user experience across the site and cohesion across all touchpoints, we suggested best practice for usage of all the components to create well balanced pages with easily digestible information.
